Delicious aromatic curry dishes, many in a Nepalese style. This is a peaceful spot in downtown Menlo Park with about a dozen tables. Friendly service. I have been several times for a very satisfying lunch. Both ample vegetarian and meat options on the menu. I loved the Himalayan Mixed Vegetables in a spicy tomato onion gravy. Vegetable Pakoras, and Peshwari Nan (Nan stuffed with sweet coconut. Also a great place for takeout for a base to an easy dinner at home.

My husband and I ended up in the area during rush hour and decided to get dinner while traffic slowly died down and settled on Tilak. Neither of us has knowingly had Nepalese food before, so we were interested in trying a bit. I got the vegetable momo (dumplings) and my husband got the chicken. We also got the mushroom pakora (I love mushrooms) and a side of garlic naan (my husband loves naan), and I ordered a masala chai to drink. The veg momo were flavorful and had some unfamiliar flavors, so that was fun, and my husband liked his chicken momo, too; I wonder if that's a typical spice/herb mix for that locale's cuisine. The mushroom pakora were delicious and crispy, and came with a sweet brown sauce and an herbaceous green sauce (neither is spicy, I approached the green with caution initially, LOL). The naan was classic Indian garlic naan, no surprises there, but the masala chai was oddly unsweetened and even kinda salty? They do provide sugar packets table side, so I added a couple packets to hide the weird salty flavor. It's probably the one thing I wouldn't order again. Interior is relatively nice, like an upscale cafe, and the wait staff were friendly, although a bit baffled by my husband ordering naan with the momo (I guess rice is the traditional starch accompaniment, but the momo honestly stand on their own just fine). It is small, but there's both indoor and outdoor seating available (we sat inside, as it was a bit chilly and windy). Definitely glad we came, and we'll keep it in mind next time we're looking for food in the area.

Quiet setting with instrumental music. Modern decor. Love the paintings. Quick service. The food is good, will def try again if in the area. I'd say the flavors are there but can be more spiced. The spices are a bit toned down so it's a good way to ease into liking Indian/nepali food. Loved the momos! reminds me of eating them in Nepal minus the super duper spicy so this is comfortable. The coconut curry is a tad on a sweeter side but still good. Butter chicken can use a bit more spices as well but still good.

My friend and I stopped in here last night and it was really good! We shared the vegetable samosas, she had the lamb korma with garlic naan, I had the chicken tikka masala with plain naan and rice. The food was great and we took home plenty of leftovers! I do wish they had plates that came with rice, etc so that you don't have to order everything separately, but everything was tasty. This is the place to be if it's a hot day because the AC was on full blast (which I love because I don't have AC in my house), but we did need to leave because we were getting goosebumps. There are also tables outside on the Santa Cruz Ave side. The service was very fast.
